Tithe (Modern Faerie Tales, #1) by Holly Black - Both The Darkest Part of the Forest and The Coldest Girl in Coldtown were five star books for me, and this is coming from someone who typically gets bored by fantasy after a chapter or two. There’s something about Holly Black’s writing style that is so lovely and dark and perfectly fitting for the stories she tells.
The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black - 4.5 stars Holly Black at her finest. Once, there was a girl who vowed she would save everyone in the world, but forgot herself. Seriously, how does Holly Black create such bone-chillingly wondrous books time and time again? Hazel Evans and her brother (Ben) live in Fairfold - a town blessed (cursed?) by the fair folk. The food tastes better, the art is more beautiful and the world, far crueler.
Because You Were Nice to Me - TV Tropes - In The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, Tana's relationship with Gavriel springs from this (combined with Rescue Romance) since she's the only person who ever saved him, or put his needs before her own.
